Kan ve Kum

Başarılı televizyon yapımlarına imza atmak aslında çok da zor değil. Bunun birinci sebebi TV'de hem başarılı olmuş hem de olmamış birçok örnek var dolayısıyla da ne yapmak ve yapmamak gerektiğini görmek çok kolay. Elbette bunu çekecek bütçe bulmak ve kanala kabul ettirmek ayrı bir konu. Ayrıca amaç daha alternatif, yapılmamış bir şey bulmaksa, iş daha da zorlaşabilir.

Bugün bahsedeceğim örnek ise alternatif veya orijinal değil, tam tersine, bilindik iyi formülleri çok iyi harmanlamış ve sonucunda çok başarılı olmuş bir yapım.

Spartaküs'ün hikayesini anlatan Spartacus: Blood and Sand, 300 ve Gladyatör filmlerinin bir karışımı. 300 filmindeki görsellerin Gladyatör'deki hikayeyle birleştiği bu 2010 yapımı dizinin ilk göze çarpan özelliği cesur olması. Zamanında Nip / Tuck, Six Feet Under veya Tudors için kullandığımız bu kelime Spartacus: Blood and Sand ile daha da yeni bir boyut kazanmış, bunun yanında diğerleri çok masum kalıyor.

Burada bahsedilen cesaret, vahşet ve şehvet sahnelerinde sonuna kadar geçerli. Neyse ki dizi, bu konuda iki önemli şeyi başarıyor. İlki, dizi sadece bu sahnelere güvenen ve gerisi boş bir dizi değil, tam tersine, hem hikaye hem de oyunculuk iyi olduğu için, çekim ve görsellerin etkisi daha da güçlü oluyor. İkincisi ise bu sahneler genelde çok estetik ve sanatsal bir şekilde sunulduğu için itici olmak yerine çekici olmayı başarabiliyor.

Spartaküs rolünde Andy Whitfield oynuyor, diğer tanıdık simalar ise Mumya filmindeki John Hannah ve de Xena dizisinin başrol oyuncusu (ki kendisi Battlestar Galactica'da da uzun ve önemli bir rol almıştı) Lucy Lawless.

Sonuç olarak Spartacus: Blood and Sand, sürükleyici hikayesi, düşmeyen temposu, harika görselleri ve görülmemiş cesaretiyle son yılların en başarılı dizilerinden biri. Her bölümü yaklaşık 1 saat süren dizi izleyiciye her bölümde sinematik bir şölen yaşatıyor. Resmi fragmanı aşağıda izleyebilirsiniz, şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum.

That's what she said

The Office dizisinin başrolündeki Steve Carell'in canlandırdığı Michael Scott karakterini sanırım hepiniz biliyorsunuzdur. Daha ben bu diziyi izlemeye başlamadan önce bir arkadaşım, bu karakterin hemen her yönüyle bana çok benzediğini söylediğinde çok merak etmiştim nasıl biri diye. Şimdi ise dizinin 6 sezonunu da izlemiş olan bir fanatiği olarak bu sözü çok iyi anlıyorum.

Bu karakterin ve benim benzeşen özelliklerimize bir bakalım. Örneğin Michael'ın sevilme takıntısı:

"Do I need to be liked? Absolutely not. I like to be liked. I enjoy being liked. I have to be liked. But it's not like this compulsive need to be liked, like my need to be praised."

"Do I want to be feared or loved? That's a good question. I want both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."

Ayrıca bir grubun parçası olma isteği:

"I love inside jokes. I'd love to be a part of one someday."

Bir gün bir şekilde sevilemeyebileceği korkusu:

"I don't understand...you want to see other people? Only other people?"

Sır saklama konusundaki muazzam (!) yeteneği:

"Jim and I are great friends. We hang out a ton... mostly at work, but the fact that he told me his secret and no one else says everything about our friendship. And that is why I intend on keeping that secret for as long as I possibly can."

Arkadaşlığa verdiği önem:

"I was shocked when he told me he was transferring to Samford. It's like with fireman, you don't leave your brothers behind. Even if you find out that there is a better fire in Connecticut."

Sınırını bilmeyen patavatsız, bel altı esprileri:

"Meredith is so old, that when she went to an antique store, they kept her. I got that off the internet, it's not mine. Hey Meredith, Liz Taylor called she wants her age back and her divorces back! Get it? 'Cause she's getting old, and she's been divorced, what twice?"

"Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family."

"Jim: You really think you can go all day long?

Michael: That's what she said."

"Jim: Well, you always left me satisfied and smiling.

Michael: That's what she said."

"Kevin: Why did you get it so big?

Michael: That's what she said."

"Angela: You already did me.

Michael: That's what she said."

"Dwight: Let's put some raw meat on that.

Michael: That's what she said."

"You may look around and see two groups here; white collar, blue collar. But I don't see it that way, and you know why not? Because I am collar-blind."

"Michael: We'll ask Powerpoint.

Oscar: Michael, this is a presentation tool.

Michael: You're a presentation tool!"

Gülmeyi ve duygularını göstermeyi çok sevmesi:

"Michael Scott: You know what the best medicine is?

Kevin Malone: The doctor said a combination of Interferon and Dacarbazine.

Michael Scott: And laughter."

"Society teaches us that, having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that's baloney, because grief isn't wrong. There's such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown."

Elbette Michael Scott bana çok benzeyen tek dizi karakteri değil. Bir daha ki sefere de Scrubs dizisinde Zach Braff'in canlandırdığı John Dorian karakterine daha yakından bakarız.

The Prisoner

"A man, known as Six, finds himself inexplicably trapped in The Village with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly - how he can escape."

Yurtdışında aslında çok popüler olan kısa dizi kavramı Türkiye'de henüz aynı algıya erişmedi. Elbette yabancı dizileri yakından takip eden insanlar Angels in America veya The Lost Room gibi nispeten daha popüler olan kısa dizilerin farkında olsa da, gözden kaçırılan birçok kısa dizi de mevcut.

CNBC-e'nin bu dönemde yayınladığı 'The Prisoner' dizisi de (http://www.amctv.com/originals/the-prisoner/) bunlardan biri. Başrollerinde James Caviezel, Ian McKellen ve Ruth Wilson'ın bulunduğu dizide özgürlük, sanal gerçeklik ve ütopya kavramları üzerinde duruluyor.

Dizinin orijinal versiyonu AMC tarafından 1967'de yayınlanmıştı, 2009'da ise yine aynı şirket tarafından asıl senaryoya sadık kalınarak yeni bir kadroyla, 6 bölümlük (her bölüm 45 dakika) bir kısa dizi olarak yeniden çekildi.

İnternette diziyle ilgili çelişkili yorumlar var, ancak ben diziyi çok beğendim. Öncelikle dizi aynı anda hem sürükleyici hem de düşündürücü olmayı başarıyor; yani ne çok sıkıcı ne de çok yüzeysel. Dizinin görselleri ise hem teknoloji hem de sanat anlamında çok başarılı. Oyuncu kadrosu ise, yabancı dizilere aşina olan insanların hemen tanıyacağı birçok başarılı aktör ve aktris içeriyor.

Dizinin bir IMDB notu henüz yok (ben 10 üzerinden 8 verdim), ancak benim kanaatim dizinin birçok güzel dizi gibi 'underrated' olduğu (Carnivale, Pushing Daisies vs.). Yalnızca 6 bölümden oluşan, dolayısıyla da çok zamanınızı almayacak olan bu diziye umarım bir şans verirsiniz; pişman olmayacaksınız.
